We unfolded this classic LA bungalow and echoed the original one story volume with a discrete two story addition in the back. Taking advantage of the roof slope, we lifted the ceilings in the shared spaces to create a more open and airy feel.

Repeated wood screen details visually connect through the house. A simple and functional solution in a house where the character and personality of the natural materials become the decoration and enhance connection to outside spaces.

The retained street facing trees make a welcome procession framing the views of entry. The garage converted in to an ADU/office/studio opens up to the yard in three directions.
