Mackler

With over 30 years of experience, Debbie blends pragmatism and artistic fun to her design process. Drawing inspiration from her extensive travels and art background, she uses her passion for materials, color and scale to solve each new design challenge with the ultimate goal of creating a better place for her clients to live.

Working throughout Los Angeles and beyond, Debbie's cozy-modern design aesthetic lends itself to any scale: whether it’s a new house, a major addition, a flexible ADU, or a detailed kitchen remodel.

Collaborating with the clients throughout the design process allows her to integrate their asks into creative, functional design solutions.

Debbie is a Licensed Architect, educator, volunteer, artist, and founder of Mackler Fisher Architects. She is an AIA member and an NCARB certificate holder.

Mackler Fisher Architecture (MFA) provides personalized services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual client. An Architecture practice established in LA in 2016, and led by Deborah Mackler, we engage in the local: much of our work is residential renovation and new builds throughout Los Angeles and beyond.

MFA listens to the client’s specific wants in order to create spaces that meet the needs of each family. Debbie’s experience and knowledge of space and structure allows MFA to create meaningful solutions that key in to the underlying desires of the client.  Problem solving from design outset through permitting and construction is how we deliver remarkable results and functional, livable homes.

Throughout the design process, MFA demonstrates how small actions create significant impacts. Opening a ceiling, changing the flow of a floor plan, connecting to the outdoors are all ‘small’ interventions that make a big impact on the way we live. We focus on site-specific design, meticulously considering elements like view, flow, outdoor “rooms,” and the individual needs of each family. Color and materiality are the defining language of each project.

While MFA is a small office we have a big team attitude. With connections to a network of collaborators and specialists, locally and internationally, MFA fosters a sense of community and support within the project team. MFA hires a variety of consultants and collaborators to efficiently share the workload and ensure the correct team is working on your project.
