East Coast Cabin

Led by a keen sense of design and intuition, the clients knew from the beginning of the project that they wanted to preserve the character of this light filled and lofty home nestled in the woods while bringing it up to date. They kept all the best characteristics of the modern treehouse and improved on it in the areas needed: some new windows to frame views, swapping a window with doors to provide direct access to the rear yard, fresh materials in kitchen and bathrooms, and exterior built in furniture to name a few. This project was an ongoing conversation about the importance of details.

MFA provided a creative on-call “lifeline” to supplement the local architect of record’s permit set. We assisted the owners with material selection, color consultation, and construction interpretation; providing encouragement, recommendations, sketches, suggestions and reinforcement as needed.
