Eco-friendly backyard transformation optimizes site, function, and sun. A new accessory dwelling unit/workshop in the rear yard attaches to the existing garage. The shared shed roof angles for new solar panels and a deck extends the main house toward the ADU. Northern windows and high ceilings provide consistent daylight to the shop.
The Owners removed the swimming pool and concrete hardscape and restored life with native vegetation and a koi pond. Plantings, electric car chargers, rain barrels, recycled and recyclable materials and strategic shade devices furnish the yard and add to the environmentally sensitive impact of the project.
